by the banks of the jordan river,
saint john was baptizing.
with the gift of the holy spirit,
god revealed himself
upon the people.

verse 1 – a voice in the wilderness
in a lonely wilderness, a voice was heard,
prepare the way of the lord,
make his path straight.
those who repent for their sins
will receive his grace and mercy.


verse 2 – the heavens open
the heavens opened,
and the glory of the lord appeared.
a voice was heard by jesus,
saying in his name:
“this is my beloved son,
in him i am well pleased.”
